This life size statue of the Hard Hat Pearl Diver adjacent to the Cultured Pearling Monument in Chinatown, was erected in 1999 to pay tribute to the role that the Hard Hat Diver played in establishing Broome as the centre of the world’s pearling industry in the early 1900’s.
Gantheaume Point Lighthouse was first built in 1905 as a 47ft open braced steel tower. In 1922 the Gantheaume Point Lighthouse was demanned and in 1984 another new tower made of stainless steel open lattice with tube columns was built. Entrance Point near Broome Port is a popular locals spot for fishing, sunset and exploring the unusual rock formations. It is a well protected beach.There’s two boat launching ramps with ample parking for boats and trailers at Entrance Point. If launching a boat, it is important to pay attention to the tides, and to signposted
