Streeter’s Jetty was built for pearl dealers and merchants E. W. Streeter & Co of London, and is known to have been in existence in 1897. A channel cut through the mangroves to Dampier Creek providing access to Streeters Jetty for Pearl Luggers.
The English Baron and politician had a great love for Broome, Built the Cable Beach Club Resort and adjacent zoo that has long since gone. Known locally as a tourism pioneeer.
